Welcome to Anatomy for Pilates Teachers

To teach movement well, you need to understand the body that's moving. This course gives you the anatomical foundation every Pilates teacher needs — not just to name muscles, but to understand how the body is structured, how it moves, and how to apply that knowledge the moment you step onto the studio floor.

The Three Pillars of This Course

This course is built around three core areas of study:

Bones form the framework of the body. We'll explore the skeleton region by region — the spine, the ribcage, the pelvis, the limbs — learning the landmarks, shapes, and orientations that influence every movement your clients make.

Joints are where movement happens. We'll look at how different joint types are structured, what ranges of motion they allow, and what limits or supports them. Understanding joints helps you see movement potential — and movement risk.

Muscles are the engines of the body. We'll study the major muscles involved in Pilates practice: where they attach, what actions they produce, and how they work together to create the controlled, integrated movement that Pilates demands.
