Welcome to the TRUNK Mat Pilates Teacher Training, a comprehensive program designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to teach safe, effective, and inspiring Mat Pilates classes.
Our teacher training honours the traditional Pilates method while embracing a contemporary approach, informed by the most recent research in movement science.

Learn anatomy, physiology, and repertoire through expert-led, in-person instruction, combined with hands-on practice, teaching hours, and a two-part exam process. This course also includes specialised training in pre- and postnatal Pilates, as well as injury management, equipping you with the knowledge and confidence to safely adapt and modify exercises for clients with specific needs, ensuring you're prepared to teach a diverse range of students. -
Your training begins with in-depth anatomy study online. From there, you'll move into your online physiology training, exploring the history of the method, spinal positions, breathwork, and the importance of a neutral spine. This is where the practical work begins: you'll practise on friends and family and upload videos for review.
You'll also gain full access to our online repertoire video library, giving you the chance to study each movement and cueing formula in detail before stepping onto the Reformer at your face-to-face weekends.
Weekend 1 and Weekend 2 focus entirely on repertoire, where you'll practise the movements hands-on and refine your technique under direct guidance.
Weekend 3 covers sequencing, injury management, and pre- and postnatal Pilates, equipping you with the skills to safely adapt and structure classes for a diverse range of clients.
Your anatomy and physiology knowledge is tested on day 1 of your first face-to-face weekend.
You'll also work towards:
20 hours of attending classes
20 hours of teaching practice
10 hours of observation
10 hours of self-practice at your own pace.
Exam 1: takes place on a separate exam day, where you'll teach a 40–50 minute sequence, followed by questions on anatomy, injury management, and pre- and postnatal Pilates.
Once you've completed your 20 hours of classes, 10 hours of observation, 10 hours of self-practice, and taught 20 classes of your own, you'll move on to
Exam 2: Submit a 40-50mins sequence. Once approved, submit a video where you teach the aforementioned 40-50 mins sequence with a minimum of 3 participants.

Our certification process is designed to ensure you graduate with both the knowledge and practical teaching experience needed to confidently lead Mat Pilates classes.
To successfully complete the hybrid Mat Pilates Teacher Training and receive your Certificate of Completion, participants must:
Complete all online learning modules
Successfully pass all online assessments and knowledge tests
Attend 20 Mat Pilates classes to deepen understanding of class flow, coaching styles, and exercise application (can be done anywhere)
Practice 10 hrs on the Mat to deepen your understanding of the Reformer repertoire (can be done anywhere)
Teach 20 Mat Pilates classes to gain practical teaching experience and develop confidence as an instructor (can be done anywhere)
Observe 10 Mat Pilates classes (can be done anywhere)
Exam 1: teach a 40-50mins class
Submit a video examination teaching one self-designed Mat Pilates sequence demonstrating your understanding of programming, sequencing, and coaching principles. You must have a min. of 3 participants.
Upon successful completion of all course requirements, graduates will receive a Certificate of Completion from TRUNK Academy and will have the practical experience, teaching skills, and confidence to deliver engaging and effective Mat Pilates classes in a variety of settings. Your certificate will clearly outline the requirements you've completed, giving you a detailed record of your qualification.

Once certified you will be able to teach in Switzerland and Internationally. This certificate allows to work anywhere in the world.
This course is officially accepted by Qualitop, Qualicert, and Fitpass, giving you recognised, industry-standard credentials that make you a highly sought-after Mat Pilates teacher in Switzerland.
Please check local regulation on additional requirements, ie First Aid certification etc.
