Whether you are completely new to teaching or looking to add Mat & Reformer Pilates to your existing repertoire, this training was created for movers, fitness professionals, and wellness enthusiasts who are ready to take the next step. You will gain the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to lead classes that are safe, purposeful, and truly transformative.

Our approach goes beyond exercise, we dive deep into the foundations of the Pilates method, exploring how breath, spinal alignment, and core connection underpin every movement. By the end of this course, you will have a thorough understanding of technique, class structure, and how to coach a diverse range of bodies with skill and intention.

Foundations of Pilates
Explore the history and evolution of Pilates, understand its core principles, and learn how the Pilates method combines breath, control, and mindful movement to create a uniquely effective practice.

Anatomy and Movement Principles
Develop a practical understanding of anatomy as it relates to movement, posture, spinal alignment, stability, and muscular engagement. Learn how to apply this knowledge to create safe, effective, and purposeful classes.

Mat & Reformer Pilates Technique and Exercise Repertoire
Master a comprehensive range of Reformer Pilates exercises, including spinal mobility work, core-focused sequences, upper and lower body strengthening, flexibility components, and balance challenges. Learn the purpose of each exercise and how to teach it with clarity and confidence.

Alignment and Cueing
Learn how to observe movement, provide clear verbal instruction, and use effective coaching techniques that help participants connect with their bodies and perform exercises with precision and control.

Modifications and Progressions
Understand how to adapt exercises for different bodies and fitness levels while maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of the workout. Learn how to progress movements to create dynamic and challenging classes.

Class Design and Sequencing
Discover how to structure well-balanced Reformer Pilates classes that flow seamlessly from beginning to end. Learn programming principles, exercise selection, pacing, and how to create engaging class experiences that keep clients coming back.

Pre & Postnatal Modifications & Injury Management

This course also includes specialised training in pre- and postnatal Pilates, as well as injury management, equipping you with the knowledge and confidence to safely adapt and modify exercises for clients with specific needs, ensuring you're prepared to teach a diverse range of students.

Your training begins with in-depth anatomy study online. From there, you'll move into your online physiology training, exploring the history of the method, spinal positions, breathwork, and the importance of a neutral spine. This is where the practical work begins: you'll practise on friends and family.

You'll also gain full access to our online repertoire video library, giving you the chance to study each movement and cueing formula in detail before stepping onto the Reformer at your face-to-face weekends.

Weekend 1 to 4, we focus entirely on repertoire, where you'll practise the movements hands-on and refine your technique under direct guidance.

Weekend 5 covers sequencing, injury management, and pre- and postnatal Pilates, equipping you with the skills to safely adapt and structure classes for a diverse range of clients.

Your anatomy and physiology knowledge is tested on day 1 of your first face-to-face weekend.

You'll also work towards:

• 20 hours of attending Mat classes

• 20 hours of attending Reformer classes

• 20 hours of Reformer teaching practice

• 20 hours of Reformer teaching practice

• 10 hours of Mat observation

• 10 hours of Reformer observation

• 10 hours of Mat self-practice

• 10 hours of Reformer self-practice at your own pace.

Exam 1: takes place on a separate exam day, where you'll teach a 40–50 minute sequence, followed by questions on anatomy, injury management, and pre- and postnatal Pilates. (Exam for each

Once you've completed your 40 hours of attending classes, 20 hours of observation, 20 hours of self-practice, and taught 40 classes of your own, you'll move on to

Exam 2: Submit a 40-50mins sequence. Once approved, submit a video where you teach the aforementioned 40-50 mins sequence with a minimum of 3 participants. (Each modality)

Our certification process is designed to ensure you graduate with both the knowledge and practical teaching experience needed to confidently lead Mat & Reformer Pilates classes.

To successfully complete the Mat & Reformer Pilates Teacher Training and receive your Certificate of Completion, participants must:

• Complete all online learning modules

• Successfully pass all online assessments and knowledge tests

• Attend 20 Mat & 20 Reformer Pilates classes to deepen understanding of class flow, coaching styles, and exercise application (can be done anywhere)

• Practice 10 hrs on the Reformer & 10 hrs Mat to deepen your understanding of the Mat & Reformer repertoire (can be done anywhere)

• Teach 20 Reformer & 20 Mat Pilates classes to gain practical teaching experience and develop confidence as an instructor (can be done anywhere)

• Observe 10 Reformer & 10 Mat Pilates classes (can be done anywhere)

• Exam 1: teach a 40-50mins class (each modality)

• Submit a video examination teaching one self-designed Mat & Reformer Pilates sequence demonstrating your understanding of programming, sequencing, and coaching principles. You must have a min. of 3 participants.

Upon successful completion of all course requirements, graduates will receive a Certificate of Completion from TRUNK Academy and will have the practical experience, teaching skills, and confidence to deliver engaging and effective Mat & Reformer Pilates classes in a variety of settings. Your certificate will clearly outline the requirements you've completed, giving you a detailed record of your qualification.

Once certified you will be able to teach in Switzerland and Internationally. This certificate allows to work anywhere in the world.

This course is officially accepted by Qualitop, Qualicert, and Fitpass, giving you recognised, industry-standard credentials that make you a highly sought-after Mat & Reformer Pilates teacher in Switzerland.
