Foundations of Mat Pilates
Explore the history and evolution of Pilates, understand its core principles, and learn how the Mat Pilates method combines breath, control, and mindful movement to create a uniquely effective practice.

Anatomy and Movement Principles
Develop a practical understanding of anatomy as it relates to movement, posture, spinal alignment, stability, and muscular engagement. Learn how to apply this knowledge to create safe, effective, and purposeful classes.

Mat Pilates Technique and Exercise Repertoire
Master a comprehensive range of Mat Pilates exercises, including spinal mobility work, core-focused sequences, upper and lower body strengthening, flexibility components, and balance challenges. Learn the purpose of each exercise and how to teach it with clarity and confidence.

Alignment and Cueing
Learn how to observe movement, provide clear verbal instruction, and use effective coaching techniques that help participants connect with their bodies and perform exercises with precision and control.

Modifications and Progressions
Understand how to adapt exercises for different bodies and fitness levels while maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of the workout. Learn how to progress movements to create dynamic and challenging classes.

Class Design and Sequencing
Discover how to structure well-balanced Mat Pilates classes that flow seamlessly from beginning to end. Learn programming principles, exercise selection, pacing, and how to create engaging class experiences that keep clients coming back.

This certification supports genuine mastery — giving you the time and space to absorb the material thoroughly while progressing entirely on your own schedule.

How your 160 hours break down:

• 90 hours — Online coursework (main curriculum + anatomy)

• 30 hours — Practice teaching

• 30 hours — Participation in live classes

• 10 hours — Observation

What it takes to certify:

• Complete 100% of the online content — main course and anatomy course

• Log all required hours (10 observation + 30 participation + 30 practice teaching)

• Submit a written 1:1 class plan

• Submit a written group class plan (this becomes the blueprint for your video) and teach and film one signature TRUNK class

• Film a 40–50 minute class video demonstrating your teaching

• Tuition paid in full

Your timeline: 12 months from your enrolment date to complete everything, at your own pace.

Our certification process is designed to ensure you graduate with both the knowledge and practical teaching experience needed to confidently lead Mat Pilates classes.

To successfully complete the Online Mat Pilates Teacher Training and receive your Certificate of Completion, participants must:

• Complete all online learning modules

• Successfully pass all online assessments and knowledge tests

• Attend 30 Mat Pilates classes to deepen understanding of class flow, coaching styles, and exercise application

• Teach 30 Mat Pilates classes to gain practical teaching experience and develop confidence as an instructor

• Observe 10 Mat Pilates classes

• Submit a video examination teaching one TRUNK Mat Pilates Signature class

• Submit a video examination teaching one self-designed Mat Pilates sequence demonstrating your understanding of programming, sequencing, and coaching principles

Upon successful completion of all course requirements, graduates will receive a Certificate of Completion from TRUNK Academy and will have the practical experience, teaching skills, and confidence to deliver engaging and effective Mat Pilates classes in a variety of settings.

Once certified you will be able to teach in Switzerland and Internationally.
